It was all smiles as we turned on the switches, energizing 5 communities in Ife. The smiles on the faces of indigenes and team members could only be explained by the hardwork, anxious expectations and dedication by all concerned. Congratulations to everyone who made this possible.

ReAct - Action on Antibiotic ResistanceReAct is an independent network dedicated to addressing the critical issue of antibiotic resistance. Antibiotic and antimicrobial resistance pose one of the most significant threats to global health today, according to the World Health Organization. Many organizations and initiatives advocate for the judicious use of antibiotics, emphasizing their necessity only in critical situations to preserve their efficacy. At Gedea, we support the responsible use of antibiotics but also recognize that antibiotics may not always be the most effective treatment option.Bacterial vaginosis, for instance, is often treated with antibiotics. While the cure rate is favorable, antibiotics can disrupt the vaginal microbiome, compromising the body's natural defenses and leading to recurrent infections. #femtech #amr #innovation #gedea

On today's International Day of Living Together in #Peace🕊️, we celebrate the people and communities in Iraq who unleash their #peacebuilding potential by bringing communities closer, promoting understanding and creating a brighter future for all.Since 2016, we have supported peacebuilding activities by creating spaces for community exchanges and implementing inclusive, conflict-reducing measures. In diverse areas and cities of Iraq, such as Anbar, Nineveh and Baghdad, for example, we facilitate peace exchanges between communities and local governments to address local needs. This has resulted in action plans for peaceful community development and peace agreements resolving long-standing disputes, such as those concerning water and electricity.Additionally, in Sinjar alongside our partners at the House of Coexistence - HOC, we provide a space for the Yezidi and other communities to engage in activities like discussions, community work, podcast production and more, aiming at promoting the concept of peaceful coexistence.#LivingTogetherInPeace 🕊️More on our engagement: https://lnkd.in/d5N-8bja

https://lnkd.in/dUUh7DWaHave you registered your students for the Schools Ration Challenge 2024?Refugees need our help, today, more than ever before. It’s easy for young people to feel overwhelmed and disempowered by the enormity of the global refugee crisis. Around the world, more than 114 million people* have been forced to flee their homes because of conflict or disaster, and that number is rising. But you can empower your students to make a difference!By taking the Ration Challenge, your students will eat the same rations as a refugee living in Jordan for 3-5 days and will raise money that will help change lives by providing emergency food, healthcare and life-changing support.By putting themselves in the shoes of a refugee, students will learn about current global issues, develop further empathy for others, and feel empowered to make a difference in the world.Sign up your school today.*According to UN refugee agency, UNHCR, statistics#standwithrefugees #actforpeace #schoolsrationchallenge

Frank discussion with @deniserf_123 & an opportunity for me to clarify misconceptions related to UNHCR's work in 🇱🇧, the situation of refugees, humanitarian assistance, & durable solutions. In a highly charged context, factual information is crucial. Thanks for the opportunity.

Missions mobilization is a call to encourage, equip, and support individuals and groups to actively engage in mission-focused activities. From raising awareness about global missions to encouraging individuals to pray for missions and unreached people groups, to providing training and resources for those interested in going on short-term or long-term missions trips, to supporting missions and labourers on the field financially or through other means. The goal of missions mobilization is to inspire and empower people to participate in God's mission and helping to make disciples around the world. If you can't be on the field, you can be a missions mobilizer, connecting God's people to God's mission.

For Arabic speakers my interview on #AlQahera today about F-16 transfers to #Ukraine. My focus was on timeframe, tempering expectations and how they will be used in the aerial campaign.Co-panelists pushing #Moscow narrative had other ideas, repeatedly mentioning "escalation" whilst claiming the F-16 stands no chance of competing in the theatre...shot down. I asked some simple questions:1) How can you claim the F-16 transfers are an "escalation" if you do not see them as a threat?2) Who is escalating? Did the Ukraine just commit the largest European land grab since WWII or was that #Moscow?Special thanks to Hoda Elmasry and the great team at Al-Qahera.

Why won't Muslim countries accept Palestinian refugees? There are reasons.Egypt shares a border with Gaza. Egypt closed its borders on the first day of the war. Egypt is building a THIRD wall to prevent infiltration from Gaza. Egypt has flooded the Gazan tunnels with sea water (long before Israel did so). There were 400,000 Palestinians in Kuwait in 1990. After the war Kuwait expelled the Palestinians who supported Saddam Hussein's invasion against the country in which they were living. The history of Iraq and the Palestinians goes back to the Muslim Brotherhood and Amin Al Husseini (no relation to the dictator) who wanted to found a caliphate. The British expelled him for his acts of incitement. In Iraq Husseini fomented hate towards the Jews leading to the Farhud. In 1970 there were 1,000,000 Palestinians in Jordan. In what became 'Black September' the Palestinians attempted to overthrow the Jordanian government. The Jordanian forces prevailed and expelled the Palestinian leaders and fighters from Jordan to Lebanon. In retaliation, the Palestinians murdered Jordan's Prime Minister in 1971.In Lebanon, the Palestinian leadership formed a political and military leadership - in parallel to what existed - creating a state within a state. At that time Lebanon was about 50% Christian. The Palestinian military and political ambitions in Lebanon created tensions. Eventually sparking a 15 year civil war. At the end of the war the Palestinian leaders were again expelled.https://lnkd.in/eKYBBAgD

Rising to the Need of Ukraine.[Repost] Amidst the complex geopolitical tapestry, today marks 547 days since the invasion of Ukraine. Families have been uprooted, lives disrupted, and the necessities we often take for granted – like clean water, shelter, and medical care – have become elusive luxuries for many.In early 2022, Signify Foundation committed to the first phase of immediate relief projects to enable mobilisation and fleeing, field operations, and temporary settlements. Looking ahead, a commitment was also made to a second phase of medium-long term developmental support for community rebuilding and more permanent refugee settlements/camps.As we now find ourselves in the second phase, the question arises: which phase are we actually in? While we work with our Signify colleagues in Ukraine on rebuilding efforts, we stand in solidarity with those caught in the continuing crossfire of this crisis and the atrocities we read about only from a distance. No matter how we define the scope of our response, one thing is clear: we are best guided by the values that unite us all – empathy, compassion, and the unyielding belief in the power of collective action. To raise awareness on our ongoing lighting projects in Ukraine, we have created an interactive map showcasing our twelve current projects (tip: click icons to see descriptions!) and how light relief enables rebuilding in the face of adversity. https://lnkd.in/eNYtgGWR
